Abstract
757,810. Colour television tubes. CHROMATIC TELEVISION LABORATORIES, Inc. Dec. 15, 1953 [March 23, 1953], No. 34863/53. Class 39 (1). The electrode structure adjacent the luminescent screen of a cathode-ray tube comprises conducting strands 25 tensioned between supporting elements and located in spaced slots 23 in vitreous supports 21 to give a spacing of the elemental area of the raster. The strands are sealed in the slots either with cement or by a glass to metal seal and are connected to header conductors 27 and 28. The grooves or slots in the supports 21 are cut on a mandrel or formed from photo-sensitive opal glass by exposing to ultra-violet light, heating and immersing in hydrofluoric acid. The supports are affixed to the phosphor screen 15 by fusion or by affixing means such as potassium silicate or solder glass. The wires 25 may be anchored to the screen 15 by attachment to metal rods 33, 35, Fig. 6, sealed to the screen, and the connection of alternate wires to one rod enables different potentials to be applied to two sets of grid wires. Alternatively the wires 25 are welded or brazed to conducting cords held in a vitreous rod fused or otherwise secured to the screen 15. The grid is applicable to either monochrome or additive colour systems. Specifications 648,257, 721,523, 757,071, 757,785, 757,786 and 757,787 are referred to.
