Abstract

The cathode ray tube comprises an integral neck-funnel portion to which is joined, by a sealant, a screen shell. The joint between the edges of the sides of the screen and funnel portions has an opaque colour and is non-reflecting. The joint consists pref. of a fused glass paste comprising mainly PbO, >=1 of the following: SiO2, B2O3, a metal oxide mixt. sulphur and a binder to form a paste. The opaque seal improves the external appearance of the tubes, which are mainly used for colour television.
