Abstract

757,804. Electrolytic capacitors. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 2, 1953 [Aug. 20, 1953], No. 22973/53. Class 37. [Also in Group XI] A method of making an electrolytic capacitor assembly comprising a tubular thermoplastic casing formed from two identical parts 12, 13 and containing an electrolytic capacitor unit, comprises inserting the unit in one of the ports and locating a metal ring 15 in an annular recess 14 in one of said parts then placing the open ends of the parts together and heating the ring to fuse them together. Suitable thermoplastic materials are polythene, polystyrene, and cellulose acetate. The ring is preferably heated by a high-frequency current induced in it. Corrections to the outside are preferably made as shown through rivets in the casing end prior to assembly of the parts. In the Provisional Specification is described a casing formed of a tube or end caps fused to one end by heating a ring interposed between it and the tube, the other end being closed by a disc fused into the tube.
