Abstract
757,044. Clocks. JUNGHANS H. and JUNGHANS AKT.-GES., GEB. Feb. 16, 1954 [Feb. 16. 1953]. No. 4580/54. Addition. to 698,810. Class 139. An alarm clock comprises means for automatically changing the ringing volume during the running down of the alarm spring. The alarm mehanism is similar to that described in the parent Specification and comprises a control disc 1 which is frictionally mounted on the alarm spring arbor 9 and which determines the amplitude of swing of the hammer 3, Figs. 1 and 3. A locking lever 5 is'so located that its arm 5a arrests the disc 1 in the position shown in Fig. 3, in which it limits the amplitude of swing of the hammer 3 until the alarm spring 8 expands sufficiently to meet the arm 5b of the lever 5 which is thereby rocked to free the disc 1 which then rotates until arrested by the stop 10 and the alarm hammer 3 is allowed its full swing and strikes the gong (not shown). After further expansion of the alarm spring 8 the lever 5 is moved sufficientlv for its arm 5c to arrest the alarm mechanism. Fig. 1. The locking lever may be generally V-shaped and mounted between two mechanism plates, Fig. 4 (not shown). In a second example the control disc 31, Fig. 5, is not moved immediately the alarm mechanism is released but only when a finger 33 frictionally mounted on the alarm spring arbor 9 has rotated substantially a complete revolution to meet a projection 13e of a spring,32 frictionally connected to the control disc. The spring 32 may be omitted and the hub of the control disc shaped accordingly. In the third example the control disc 41, Fig. 15, is frictionally mounted on the alarm spring arbor and has projections 42, 43, 44, which co-operate successively with a spring detent 45. A finer 46 is mounted on the alarm spring arbour 9. The arrangement is such that each projection 42, 43, 44 is arrested in turn by the detent while the alarm spring arbor 9 continues to rotate until the finger 46 deflects 'the spring detent 45. Fig. 18, sufficiently to free the projection 42, 43, 44. The duration of the "soft" alarm period is thereby increased.
