Abstract
756,801. Angular bending. PACIFIC INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING CO. June 23, 1954 [March 4, 1954], No. 18387/54. Class 83 (4). A press brake has a depth stop adjustably mounted at one end of the press brake ram, means for adjusting said stop from a position intermediate the ram ends, and means at such position for indicating adjustments of the stop as they are being made. A press brake includes a lower fixed bed 7 with which cooperates an upper ram or blade 9 reciprocable by a pair of double-acting pistons 11. An upper limit stop 33 on each end of the ram 9 cooperates with a micro switch 17 to limit the upward stroke of the ram and an adjustable depth stop 37 at each end co-operates with a microswitch 15 to limit the downward ram stroke. Each stop 37 is vertically slidable in as lot 30 in a casing 23 secured to the ram, by rotation of a screw 35 on which it is threaded. Rotation of the screw is effected by a crank handle 51 on a shaft 53 journalled on the ram intermediate the ends thereof to turn a sprocket 55 on said shaft 53 and through a chain 59, sprocket 57 and bevel gears 43, 45 the screw 35. The screw 35 also serves to rotate gearing 63, 65 and cable means 65 to operate an indicator 61 mounted on the ram above the shaft 53 to indicate the degree of adjustment. The sprocket drives may be linked together, so that rotation of either handle 51 will adjust both stops 37, by pressure locking a sprocket 71, Fig. 5, against the sprocket 55 of one of the handles 51 by rotating a locking knob 77, the sprocket 71 being linked by a chain 83 with a sprocket 81 welded to the other sprocket 55.
