Abstract
755,916. Impedance networks. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. Nov. 24, 1954 [Nov. 27 1953], No. 34062/54. Class 40 (8). An adjustable attenuation equalizer for use between a wave source 14 and a load Z L comprises input and output terminals 1, 2 and 3, 4, respectively, a resistance Rs, a terminating resistance Rx and a shaping network 7. The components of the network 7 are so chosen, and the Specification gives specific values, that the insertion loss - frequency curve, Fig. 2, is in the form of a parabola which is symmetrical about a frequency F M and the area 17 equals the combined area 18, 19. The curve shown is for a minimum value of Rx, for a maximum value the curve is a mirror image of the one shown; and for a normal setting of Rx the curve is a straight line at a value Ao. The network 7 may have an input impedance of constant resistance, and may be of lattice form (Fig. 3, not shown), or equivalent bridged-T (Figs. 4 to 7, not shown).
