Abstract
755,814. Air rectification processes. GES. FUR LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN AKT.-GES. Dec. 16, 1954 [Dec. 24, 1953], No. 36474/54. Class 8(2). In an air rectification process for producing liquid oxygen, air having been compressed by a turbine compressor 1 to between 3 and 15 atmospheres and cooled in reversing regenerators 3, 4 cooled by returning nitrogen, is divided at a point 8 into a major portion which is warmed in a counter current exchanger 5, traversed by the previously warmed minor portion, expended at a turbine 6 and fed to the column 7 at an intermediate level thereof, and into said minor portion from which liquid oxygen is separated in a vessel 9 ; the liquid then being filtered, cooled in an exchanger 18, expanded at a valve 17 and fed to the column 7 as reflux whereas the vapour from vessel 9 is cooled and partly condensed in an exchanger 19, warmed in one or other of exchangers 11, 10 located within the regenerators 3, 4 cooled in the exchanger 5 by the said major portion, liquefied in a coil 12, further cooled in exchanger 18, expanded at a valve 16 and fed to the column as reflux. Liquid oxygen product is discharged through a valved duct 20.
