Abstract
755,771. Vehicle window regulators. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd. April 28, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12752/54. Class 20(3). A vehicle window regulator comprises two crossed window-supporting arms 70 which are secured, one at each side of a base plate 6, to a pair of interengaging toothed segments 8 pivotally mounted on spindles 7 on the base plate 6, and a coiled spring 14 which is anchored at its outer end at 13 to the plate 6 and at its inner end to a spindle 15 on an arm 16 which is joined at its outer end, by a link 17, to an extension 10a of one of the arms 10. The connection between the arm 16 and the link 17 incorporates a spring washer 18 the frictional resistance of which can be adjusted by a nut 19 and an associated lock nut. A guard plate 9 is secured to the plate 6 over the engaged teeth of the segments 8. When the window is opened by hand the arms 10 receive equal angular movements in opposite directions against the action of the spring 14. On raising the window the arms 10 are moved by the spring 14. In a modification the spring 14 is provided with means for adjusting its tension.
