Abstract
755,563. Stud and socket fasteners. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. May 20,1954, No. 14896/54. Class 44. A snap fastener socket comprises an annular base 13 with a central stud receiving opening 15, a peripheral wall 17 projecting upwardly from the base, a wire-spring member 19 fitted within the socket upon the base and confined by the peripheral wall, a central tubular stud receiving portion 14 surrounding the opening 15 and having an open end and transverse slots 18 adjacent the base, the spring member having a pair of yieldingly connected arms 22 positioned in the transverse slots and extending across the stud receiving opening for snaplocking engagement with a stud member and a disc-like imperforate deflector member 25 having a central domed portion 28 an intermediate conical portion 26 and an outer rim 27, the domed portion and the rim being joined respectively to the conical portion by reversely curved sections, the inner surface of the dome section resting on the open end of the tubular projection 14 to support the deflector member so that the annular outer rim 27 will be normally positioned slightly spaced above the wire member 19, and the upper portion 29 of the peripheral wall being turned inwardly over the rim of the deflector member to provide a spring receiving chamber 30 between the turned portion and the deflector member. The socket is fixed to a support by a ring 23 having prongs 24 which are bent over by the deflector mem. ber. The base 13 has upstanding projections 31 on which the rim 27 of 'the deflector member rests so that it does not impede movement of the spring member.
