In order to overcome play in a ball and socket joint for a surgical truss pad, a spring 14 is provided inside the ball 3 and carries a sphericalheaded member 15 which is of smaller radius than the actual ball 3. Preferably the member 15 has a shank 16 engaged within the turns of the spring so as to be located thereby. The part of the socket against which the head 15 .bears may be formed by a depression 10 in the actual plate 2 on which the pad is mounted. Specification 752,244 is referred to. - '
