755,080. Casting-machines. HODLER, F. Sept. 7, 1954 [June 29, 1954], No. 25888/54. Class 83 (I). In a pressure die-casting machine an airescape channel in the die is controlled by a valve which is closed as the injection is completed to prevent escape of metal, the valve being controlled by the positive increase of pressure in the hydraulic system produced during the injection operation when the metal reaches a reduction in the cross-section of the feed channel. The vent 11 is controlled by a valve 12 normally held open by a spring 19. The valve is connected to the hydraulic cylinder 9 whose piston 8 actuates the injection piston 6 by a line 21. When the injected metal reaches the constriction 23 in the feed channel 22, increased pressure in the cylinder 9 and line 21 closes the valve 12, the time of closing being regulated by dimensioning the line 21 or by regulating means 24, to cause the final closing of the valve to coincide with complete filling of the die-cavity 3.
