Abstract

754,953. Rotary brushes. THOMA AKT.- GES., J. March 19. 1954 [March 20 1953; Oct. 3, 1953], No. 8177/54. Class 19 A rotary brush more particularly for a road sweeping machine comprises hollow bristle supporting bars mounted on discs pn a shaft, the looped ends of the bristles being inserted through apertures into the bar and held therein by a rod passing along the bars through the loops. As shown, the bars 5 are trapesium shaped and are clamped in pairs to discs 1 by a wedge shaped members 15. Alternatively the bars may be rectangular and may be clamped in shallow recesses in the discs by T Shaped members (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). Rods 8 may be provided to assist in supporting the base of the bristles and as shown in Fig. 8 ferrules 10 may also be provided at the mouths of the apertures in the tube. Further strengthening of the tufts may be effected by a rubber sleeve 24 which may alternatively be fitted inside the ferrule (Fig. 9, not shown) and by elastic bands 25.
