Abstract
754,942. Producing plied yarns. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH. Feb. 19, 1954 [April 27, 1953], No. 5019/54. Class 120(2). A plied yarn product composed of at least two yarns having any desired but a same twist is formed by doubling yarns having the same twist but differing from the desired twist with the aid of a one-spindle doubling device, i.e. a device in which yarn drawn from one package is balloned around the yarn from another package with the aid of a rotating guide, and subsequently, twisting the cord thus formed on a twisting device. In the arrangement shown yarn 3 from spool 1 is balloned around stationary spool 2 and is doubled with the yarn 4 from the spool 2 at point 5. The plied yarn product 6 is then passed between rollers 21 and 22 to a ring twisting device. In one example a cord having a twist of 12S composed of yarns having a twist of O is formed from yarns of twist 2Z by first doubling the yarns on a one-spindle doubling device with a twist 10S and subsequently twisting the cord on a twisting device with a twist of 2S. Specifications 572,026, 603,274, 659,473, 679,933 and 750,350 are referred to.
