In a multiplex frequency-modulating broadcast receiver such as for receiving simultaneously two programmes relating to the same intelligence, to avoid cross-modulation a plurality of highly damped low-selectivity I.F. tuned stages are used, each insufficiently selective to reject signals outside the receiver pass-band, yet in combination doing so, and each showing a substantially linear phase/frequency characteristic throughout the pass-band. The discriminator may be of phase-shift type (Fig. 5) likewise with damped tuned coupling circuits 38, 42 and with output load resistors 47, 48 by-passed by capacitors 49, 50 the impedance of which capacitance is low relative to that of the resistance at the output frequencies of the discriminator, one of which may be a frequency-modulated sub-carrier demodulated by other means.
