Abstract

752,469. Feeding devices. PRESS EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and EVANS, F. A. Feb. 15, 1955 [Feb. 27, 1954], No. 5852/54. Class 117. [Also in Group XXX] Plugs k, Fig. 7, may be inserted in holes c leading from the body a, Fig. 1, of a suction head to projecting cups e for engaging articles to be picked up. By this means the head can be adapted to lift a smaller article without loss of suction through those cups not engaged by the article. In the form illustrated solid plugs are screwed into the apertures c not to be used while bored plugs are inserted into those to be used. The rubber cups e are formed in a rubber base d secured to the body a by an apertured plate g secured by screws. The body a is a casting or die-casting and its upper face is closed by a plate b held against a machined face on the body a by screws. The apertures c may be drilled and tapped directly into the body a or into a common plate fitting over an aperture in the body. The surface formed by the nozzles e may be plain, as shown, or curved to pick up articles of complementary shape.
