Abstract

The invention comprises dyes of the formulae:-<FORM:0751997/IV(c)/1> and <FORM:0751997/IV(c)/2> wherein R represents either O, S, or NH, R1 represents a sulphonated or carboxylated azo radical or metallised complex thereof linked to the triazine ring by a NH- group, and R2 represents a sulphonated or carboxylated diamino aromatic linking component radical which is linked to the two cyanuric nuclei at the nitrogen atoms of the two amino groups. In examples, (1) 1 mol. 4.41-diamino-2.21-disulphostilbene is reacted with 2 mols. cyanuric chloride and the product so obtained is reacted with 2 mols. of the reduction product from the dye 5-nitroanthranilic acid --> 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, and with 1 mol. guanylhydrazine, semicarbazide, or thiosemicarbazide; (2) 1 mol. cyanuric chloride is condensed with 1 mol. each of 4-amino - 41 - hydroxy-azobenzene - 31 - carboxylic acid, 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3.6-disulphonic acid and either guanylhydrazine or thiosemicarbazide and the product reacted with the diazotised dyestuff 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3.6-disulphonic acid-->3-amino-4-cresol methyl ether; (3) cyanuric chloride is condensed with 2 mols. 2-amino-5-hydroxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid (J acid) and 1 mol. semicarbazide or guanylhydrazine, followed by coupling with 2 mols. diazotised 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid. The products may be after-treated with copper sulphate and partially polymerised cyano guanidene-formaldehyde.
