[Also in Group XXXI] A support for the driving crank 16 of a bicycle comprises a fixed member 1 secured to a frame member 2 of the bicycle, a movable member 3 supported by the fixed member for movement longitudinally of the frame of the bicycle, a bearing 14, 15 for the driving crank supported between the members 1, 3 and nuts 12 and bolts 10 releasably securing the movable member 3 to the fixed member 1. The bolts 10 extend through parts 5 of the fixed member 1 and through elongated slots 11 in the base 8 of the movable member 3, to receive the nuts 12. The member 3 is of channel section having walls 9 which are cut away to provide a recess 13 closely engaging the bearing blocks 14, 15. The blocks are recessed to receive a guide part 7 of the fixed member 1 and the base 8 of the movable member. On slackening the nuts 12, adjustment of the movable member 3 is effected by a screw-threaded spindle 19 which passes through an aperture in an upstanding lug 18 on the member 3, nuts 20 being provided on the spindle on either side of the lug 18. Adjustment of the bearing block 14, 15 will tighten or slacken the chain (not shown) which is carried by the chain wheel 17.
