Abstract

751,336. Shovelling machines. STEEL EQUIPMENT, Ltd. Sept. 16, 1954 [Sept. 30, 1953] No. 26905/54. Class 68(1) A shovel attachment for mounting on a vehicle comprises a shovel 29 pivotally secured to an arm 26, pivotally connected at 22 to a boom 20 pivotally connected at 21 to a post 13 mounted on a turntable 11, which is mounted for rotational movement about a vertical axis on a frame 10 secured to the chassis of the vehicle A. The shovel 29, the arm 26, and the boom 20 can be caused to have independent or co-ordinate movements with each other by the doubleacting, hydraulic fluid-actuated rams 35, 36; 37, 38; 39, 40. The ram 39, 40 pivotally connected to the shovel 21 at 31 and to the' arm 26 at 34 can cause the shovel to rotate about its pivotal connection 30 with the arm 26, whilst the ram 37, 38 pivotally connected at 32 to the arm 26 and at 25 to an upstanding cradle 23, 24 secured on the boom 20 and the ram 35, 36 pivotally connected to the arm 26 at 33 and at 17 to the upper end of the post 13 control the movement of the boom and the arm. Stabilizing arms 44 are pivotally attached ro the frame 10 and when not required can be raised clear of the ground by a ram 45.
