Abstract

751,097. Flexible hoses; hose couplings; stopping pipes. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Nov. 29, 1954 [May 25, 1954], No. 34483/54. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). [Also in Group XXIX] The hose, which is :of plasticized polyvinyl chloride, has a flat base 5, an arcuate perforated top wall 6 and an integral longitudinally extending partitioning wall structure 12, 13 and 14 which divides the hose into separate passages 15-18. Longitudinal slits 8-10 are spaced along the outer wall of the passage 17 and similar perforations 7 and 11 are arranged in the outer walls of the passages 15 and 16 respectively. The passage 18 acts as a booster passage since water flows therethrough from the inlet end to the outlet end before being fed to the outlet passages. Male and female couplings 4 and 3 are secured at opposite ends of the hose, and the female coupling comprises a tubular shank 19 and a ferrule 26 between which the extended end of the hose is sandwiched, and a threaded nut 23 rotatably attached to the shank. The male coupling is similar but with an external thread formed on the outer end of the shank for engagement with a nut such as 23, so that a number of hose lengths may be coupled together. A cap 31 closes the tail end of the hose.
