Abstract
<PICT:0751012/III/1> Articles 10 to be treated, e.g. degreased, cleaned and painted, by being dipped in tanks 11 are supported by members 13 which are suspended from an endless chain constructed as described in Specification 639,244 [Group XXX] and guided around a track 12. This track is suspended from a platform 19 supported by pillars 17, by means of chains 23 which are secured at one end to girders 16 connecting the long sides of the track and pass round chain wheels 22 adapted to be driven through gearing by an electric motor 20 whereby the track may be guided by rollers 18 up and down the pillars 17 so that the articles are moved into and out of the tanks 11. The conveyer chain is driven by a driving unit as described in Specifications 665,883 [Group XXV] and 665,888 [Group XXX]. When the articles are in register with the openings 26, an arm 29 on the member 13 of the leading article engages the operating member 28 of a switch 27 where the conveyer driving unit is arrested and the hoisting motor 20 is started so as to effect lowering the track. When the articles are immersed to the requisite depth within the tanks, a trip switch 30 is engaged by the left-hand girder 16 whereby the hoist motor is stopped and a reversing switch 31 operated to effect reversal of the motor and so bring the articles clear of the tanks. Immediate re-starting of the hoist motor is prevented by a time switch 25 which is set by the operator so as to maintain the articles for a pre-determined time within the tanks. When the track is fully raised, a trip switch 32 is operated so as to stop the hoist motor and start the conveyer driving unit 24. The tanks 11 may be re665,887 and 737,265 [both in Group XXX] also are referred to.
