An air heating stove comprises a solid-fuel storage chamber 2 at the bottom of which is a combustion chamber and a firegrate 7 and an ashpan 4. Flue tubes 8 outside the combustion and storage chambers lead from near the grate 7 upwardly to a manifold 9 which is above the storage chamber and has a chimney connection 10. Inner and outer walls 11, 12 surround the flue tubes 7 and the fuel and combustion chambers. A double-walled door in the walls 11, 12 is opposite a door 5 in wall of the storage chamber, and legs 19 support the stove off the floor so that air can flow upwardly through the stove. In the form shown, the grate is frusto-conical, and the flues 8 are connected to the space outside it. Alternatively, the grate may be a cone or pyramid. In another form, in which the grate may be flat, pyramidal, or conical, the flues are connected in pairs at the bottom to hollow members connected to the lower part of the combustion chamber just above the grate. The manifold may comprise two silumin castings, one of which has radial fins and a chimney connection containing a butterfly valve, and the other of which has openings to receive the upper ends of the flues.
