Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXIX] A valve suitable for controlling a spill passage from the fuel supply to a gas turbine engine comprises a valve member 5 with an annular knife-edge co-acting with a tapered, tubular element 4 and carried by the free end of a Bourdon tube 7 whose interior is connected by a capillary tubing 10 to a mercury boiler which is exposed to the temperature at the inlet to the turbine. Up to a temperature of 300‹C. the mercury pressure is negligible and the spill flow is constant. From that temperature up to 760"C. the valve member is moved towards the smaller end of the tubular element 4 resulting in a progressively decreasing spill flow Any further increase of temperature causes the knife-edge to emerge from the tubular element and so rapidly to increase the spill flow. Englines having more than one combustion chamber may have a corresponding number of valve members arranged in parallel each controlled by a Bourdon tube sensitive to the temperature at the outlet of the respective combustion chamber.
