Abstract

749,244. Electrically heated vacuum containers. DEANE, G. N. Oct. 9, 1951 [Oct. 9, 1950], No. 24604/50. Addition to 681,708, [Group XIII]. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XIII] The vacuum flask of the main invention, cooled by an evaporating element or coil 16, has an electric heating resistance 24 surrounding the inner wall-of 10 the flask and lying in the spaces between the runs of the element or the turns of the coil, or two vacuum flasks may be provided, one cooled, and'the other heated by an electric resistance, with a change-over switch to connect either the refrigerator motor or the resistance to the source of supply. The resistance comprises a strip of tinfoil or thin tinned plate, the leads 25 being sealed in a spigot 26 of the outer wall 11 of the flask. Fig. 4 shows a portable self-contained refrigerating and heating apparatus comprising a box 27 containing the flask 100 accessible through a door 38, a motor-compressor unit 29 and the change-over switch 33 for connecting either the motor or the resistance to the mains or the electric circuit of a motor vehicle.
