747,739. Electric tests. GENT, S. July 21, 1954 [July 16, 1953], No. 19724/53. Class 37. Relates to portable apparatus for testing continuity of cables, coils, thermionic valve cathodes and heaters, and fuses. The apparatus, Figs. 1 and 2, comprises a main switch C, a two-way switch C<SP>1</SP>, an indicating lamp A and battery B and various sockets a<SP>1</SP> and a4 for receiving valve pins and wander plugs. Fuses, cables or coils may be connected to or plugged into sockets a<SP>4</SP> connected to terminals d associated with main switch c and continuity is indicated by glow of lamp A. . Testing cathodes and heaters of thermionic valves.-Main switch C is momentarily closed to check that lamp A lights up and the valve to be tested is plugged into sockets a<SP>1</SP> whereby the cathode bridges terminals d<SP>2</SP> and the heater bridges terminals d<SP>1</SP> and two-way switch C<SP>1</SP> is then operated to test the cathode and heater in succession and if both circuits are continuous lamp A lights up less brilliantly. A short circuit between cathode and heater is indicated by no change in the brilliancy of the lamp A.
