746,449. Compound sheet materials. LANGCORK (PROPRIETARY), Ltd. June 22, 1954 [July 2, 1953], No. 18278/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. [Also in Group XXVI] A method of producing gaskets comprises sandwiching asbestos sheet or sheets between layers of sheet-metal with a film of adhesive between adjacent faces, subjecting the composite sheet to pressure whilst the adhesive dries, and then cutting the gaskets to shape from the composite sheet by means of a die or other cutter which, in the cutting process, presses the edges of the gasket together. The adhesive is preferably a thermo-setting one which is water, oil and petroleum vapour proof, has a tensile strength greater than 700 pounds per square inch, and sets at over 100‹ C.; the composite sheet being bonded by subjecting it to heat and pressure.
