Abstract
A composition comprises a synthetic rubber material and an amount of benzene hexachloride up to the limit of compatibility. The term synthetic rubber material includes polychloroprene, butadiene - styrene copolymers, butadiene - acrylonitrile copolymers, butyl rubber, and the material known as "Thiokol" (Registered Trade Mark). The benzene hexachloride is preferably in the form of the non-insecticidal isomers such as the alpha or beta isomers, the gamma isomers may, however, also be used. The limit is usually about 10 per cent, but more than 5 per cent should preferably be used.ALSO:A composition comprises natural rubber material and an amount of benzene hexachloride up to the limit of compatibility. The term natural rubber material includes natural rubber, hard rubber, rubber hydrochloride, chlorinated rubber, rubber isomers, and gutta percha. The benzene hexachloride is preferably in the form of the non-insecticidal isomers such as the alpha or beta isomers, the gamma isomers may however also be used. The limit is usually about 10 per cent but more than 5 per cent should preferably be used. In example III a hard rubber sheet is produced from rubber, stearic acid, mercaptobenzthiazole, N, N1 diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine, zinc oxide and sulphur, together with alpha, beta-benzene hexachloride, and in Example VI the mix consists of smoked crepe sheet, stearic acid, sulphur, zinc oxide, benzothiazyl disulphide, 2, 6, di-tertiarybutyl-4-methylphenol, and alpha-beta benzene hexachloride.
