Abstract

745,065. Fabrics composed of adhesivelybonded fibres. CHICOPEE MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. March 27, 1953, No. 8515/53. Class 140. An elastic, stretchable fabric-like material comprises a web of loosely associated, substantially parallelized fibres 10 such as a carded web strengthened by an adhesive applied as spaced elongated segments 11 that are interconnected as at c by unbonded lengths of fibres and lie obliquely to the predominant fibre direction. The segments may be arranged in columns overlapping as shown to the extent of 0.02 inch or more. The spacing of the segments may be such that in the overlapping zone, each fibre of average length is embedded in one segment of one column and two segments of the overlapping column. The adhesive may be one of those specified in Specifications 468,529, 642,890 and U.S.A. Specification 2,545,952. The segments may be straight lines, curved lines, ellipses, or diamonds with or without linear extensions or tails to increase overlap. An annular central portion with two opposed, radially extending tails may be employed. Specification 744,839 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 688,985.
