745,055. Control of motors. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 30, 1953 [Nov. 6, 1952], No. 27920/52. Class 38(3) [Also in Groups XX, XXIV and XXVI] A servo mechanism intended particularly for operating parts in television cameras, e.g. varying the diameter of the iris or rotating the lens turret, comprises a driving shaft 8 rotated by a spring in a rotatable housing 22 provided with a worm gear 23 meshed by a worm 24 on an axially movable shaft 25 driven by an electric motor 26. A compression spring 28 biases the shaft 25 to the right of the Figure to close a contact 29 in the circuit of the electric motor 26. When the spring in the housing 22 is fully wound, the worm 24 screws along the worm gear 23 to the left of the Figure, carrying the shaft 25 with it, and thus opens the contact 29 and stops the motor 26.
