Abstract

2 - Diazo - naphthol - (1) - 5 - sulphonic acid cyclohexyl ester is made by allowing the sulphonic acid chloride to react with cyclohexanol in pyridine, pouring the mixture into dilute hydrochloric acid and recrystallizing the resulting precipitate from alcohol. The corresponding 4-sulphonic acid ester and also the 2-diazophenol - (1) - 4 sulphonic acid ester are made analogously. 2 - Diazo - naphthol - (1) - 4 - sulphonic acid menthyl ester is made by allowing the acid chloride to react with menthol in pyridine, mixing the product with aqueous alcohol and recrystallizing the separated ester from aqueous dioxane. The corresponding 1 - diazo - naphthol - (2) - 8 - sulphonic acid menthyl ester is made analogously. Bis - 2 - diazo - naphthol - (1) - 5 - sulphonic acid b :b - bis - (p - cyclo - hexyl) - propane is made by heating the corresponding acid chloride and bis-hydroxy compound in pyridine, cooling the reaction mixture, diluting it with pyridine, introducing it into water and filtering the precipitated ester.
