Abstract
744,605. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 24, 1953 [Oct. 28, 1952], No. 27006/52. Class 39 (1). The edge of glass window 4, which is to be sealed to flange 2 of a metal envelope, is tapered as by grinding or moulding so that a substantial surface is initially in contact with the flange. This improves the heat transfer from the envelope to the glass during sealing, and prevents movement of the window during rotation. Details of the sealing operation are given.
