A cleat for supporting conductors is made by shaping a single piece of wood to the desired form, making holes 7 therein and making one or more cuts 9 through the holes to provide two or more detachable parts. The piece of wood may have a curved side 1 to engage a pole 3 and the holes 7 may be arranged in rows parallel to the side 1. Two holes 11 may be drilled at rightangles to the holes 7 for the accommodation of screws holding the parts of the cleat together and securing it on the pole 3.
