Abstract

743,438. Castors. WHITFIELD & CO., Ltd., S. B., and WHITFIELD, C. G. April 29, 1954 [June 25, 1953], No. 17688/53. Class 52(1). [Also in Group XXXIV] A bedstead castor with horn 4 and wheel 5 has a brake mechanism comprising a doublearmed member 8 one arm 8a of which embraces the periphery of the wheel 5 and the other arm 8b of which is formed with a toothed surface 8c to engage a toothed ring 9 welded to the bedstead leg or formed on the outer surface of horn 4. The member 8 is recessed at each side to slidably engage lugs 7 on bearing members 6 and is moved against a spring 10 by a cam arm 12, pivoted at 13, so as to lock the castor against swivelling and rotation.
