Abstract
741,928. Electromagnets. LE TOURNEAU, Inc., R. G. May 19, 1949 [June 15, 1948], No. 8519/52. Divided out of 741,921, [Group XXXIV]. Addition to 616,821. Class 35. In an electromagnetically-released multiple disc brake of the kind claimed in the parent Specification the fixed and movable armatures 20, 21 respectively have identical laminated poles 20, 21 projecting normally from their bases. The armature poles comprise bands 23 wound concentrically and spirally and reinforced by rings 24, 25. The bands and rings of the fixed armature are welded to a wall 1 of a motor casing 2, while those of the other armature are welded to a floating brake disc 17. The bands 23 are then machined so as to cut slots 26 leaving poles 20, 21 in the fixed and moving- armature respectively with bridge cores 20A, Fig. 1 (not shown) and 21A. The poles are surrounded by energizing coils 22. Specification 741,927 also is referred to.
