741,825. Protective covers for taps. EVERED & CO., Ltd. Feb. 22, 1954 [Nov. 20, 1952], No. 29305/52. Class 135. A shroud for a water tap making the chromium-plating of the tap body unnecessary comprises two plastic, e.g. cellulose acetate or polystyrene, pressed or moulded parts 15, Fig. 3, divided about a mid-longitudinal plane of the tap body 14. The upper faces of the parts at their abutting surfaces are formed with ribs 15d, 15e over which, when the parts are assembled on the tap body, fit U-shaped clips 17 having semi-circular parts 17b, Fig. 8, embracing the body and hook-like lips 17c fitting in recesses 15i, 15k in the parts 15. The clips may be made of brass, stainless steel, or nylon. The usual dome or cover 18 of the valve holds the clips 17 in position. The dome together with the knob 19 may also be made of cellulose acetate or polystyrene. The invention may also be applied to pillar and globe type taps.
