Abstract

741,733. Hypodermic syringes. LEWIS, O. E. C. Nov. 24, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 32394/52. Class 81(2). In a hypodermic syringe comprising a replaceable barrel within a body member associated with a needle holder line contact sealing is effected between barrel and holder by sealing surfaces one of which is frusto-conical whilst the other is of curved profile. As shown sealing contact between metal holder 15 and glass barrel 13 is effected by the interengagement of the frusto-conical surface 24 on the barrel and the convexly curved surface 25 on the holder. The holder and barrel are held together in sealing contact by the clamping effect exerted on the collar 16 of the holder by the inwardly flanged end 14 of the syringe body member 10 when the cap 21 at the plunger end of the syringe is tightly screwed up.
