A building block comprises two concrete slabs a, b secured together at a fixed distance apart by Z-shaped metal members c, d having their flanges c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP>, d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> embedded in the slabs. The upper and lower edges of the intermediate portions c<SP>3</SP>, d<SP>3</SP> are higher at their centres than at their ends. Corresponding corner blocks are provided.
