Abstract

741,672. Feeding sheets. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and AMIES, D. Jan. 12, 1954 [Jan. 28, 1953], No. 2491/53. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XXX] Sheet - separators.- An electromagneticallycontrolled valve relieves the suction in a portable vacuum lifting cup 6. As shown, the valve comprises a packing member 19 carried by a plunger 18 working in a bush 9 in the cup and controlling admission of air through a bore 5 and grooves in the packing member. The valve is normally closed by a spring 21 and is opened by its stem 16 which hooks over a pin on the plunger 4 of a solenoid mounted in a casing 2 to the base 12 of which the cup 6 is secured by a bush 11 which screws on to the bush 9. The solenoid is held adjustably in place by means not shown. A number of such devices may be carried on a beam or framework to enable large sheets to be lifted.
