Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula A-CO.NH.N=CH.R wherein A is a heterocyclic radical, optionally substituted by a nitro group, and R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical corresponding to the carbon chain <FORM:0741263/IV(a)/1> containing one or more double bonds. They are prepared by reacting the hydrazide A-CO.NH.NH2 with an unsaturated aldehyde corresponding to the above hydrocarbon radical, e.g. by refluxing in a lower aliphatic alcohol. The examples describe the preparation of (1) citral isoicotinyl hydrazone; (2) citronellal isonicotinyl hydrazone; and (3) 3,5-dinitro-2-thenoyl hydrazone.
