Class 80 (1) In the duplicated type of combined worm and spur reduction gear of Specification 193,245, [Class 80(i)], (Fig. 3) and Specification 557,471 the two shafts, each with right and left hand worms, are not coupled but independently driven by two half-power duplicate electric rotors to ensure equality of loading on all four sets of gears. The rotors of the motors are preferably carried direct on the worm shafts which are supported end-free in journal bearings.
