Abstract
A therapeutic product in the form of a powder or injection comprises an oxytetracycline antibiotic and magnesium chloride, preferably in anhydrous form and in proportions of 0.5 to 3 mols. per mol. of the oxytetracycline antibiotic. The oxytetracycline antibiotic is any therapeutic form of oxytetracycline, e.g. amphoteric oxytetracycline and salts such as the hydrochloride and sulphate. For injections the solids are preferably finely divided (i.e. less than 100 microns) and dissolved or suspended in an injectable vehicle such as water, propylene glycol or a vegatable oil such as sesame oil or peanut oil. Optional ingredients are local an sthetics such as procaine hydrochloride. Aqueous solutions are unstable and should be prepared within one hour of use. Specification 714,085 is referred to.
