A window control mechanism for moving a window 16, Fig. 1, both vertically and longitudinally in a predetermined path in a vehicle body 11 comprises an actuated member 21, pivotally mounted on the side panel 13 of the body 11, which slidably supports an arm 26 connected at 31 to the lower portion of the window, and a cam guide 29 on panel 13 cooperating with a roller 28 on the arm 26 to vary the position of the arm relative to the member 21 as the latter is rotated. As shown, the window 16 is lowered in such a way as to avoid the body pillar 18 and the rear wheel house 19. The frame 17 of window 16 is formed with a bracket 32 which carries the pivot 31 for arm 26, the latter being guided slidably across the member 21 by means of rollers 27. On rotating the circular member 21 by means of pinion 23 driven by handle 24, the rearward end of window 16, which is guided by roller 42 engaging guideway 41, is moved downwardly and rearwardly, the forward end 44 of the window frame being moved along path 46, Fig. 4, to clear the upper extremity of the pillar 18. Further rotation of handle 24 carries the forward end of window 16 to be lowered until the window is as seen in Fig. 4 fully below the belt line 45. The bracket 32 has an arcuate slot 33 receiving a pin 34 carried by a projection 36 of the arm 26 to assist in laterally stabilizing and supporting the window 16 during movement.
