In a water-tube furnace wall, rows of tiles of the form shown are secured to the tubes 6 by clamping rings 7 having studs 8 extending through the rows of tiles at the joints thereof, the wall being completed on the side remote from the tubes by insulating blocks_12, a dense layer of felt 13 and a steel casing 14. The clamping rings 7 are, as shown in Fig. 3, split members the ends of which are flanged at 9, 9a and perforated to receive the stud 8, a nut 10 being welded to the flange 9 and the stud 8 being either threaded therein or welded thereto with a threaded nut or plate 11 engaging the outer screwed end of the stud.
