Abstract

738,029. Receivers. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd. Jan. 22, 1954 [Jan. 30, 1953], No. 2768/53. Class 40 (4). In an electromagnetic telephone instrument comprising at least one permanent magnet 13 and a pair of pole-shoes 12 of rectangular crosssection projecting from the magnet ends, the pole-shoes 12 which have a major cross-sectional dimension equal to the depth of the magnet are twisted through a right-angle near their ends and have a pole-piece 12a which is bent over into a plane parallel to the end face of the magnet projecting from their narrower side. Such a magnet arrangement carrying coils 11, Fig. 3, is attached by means of a non- magnetic clip, which serves also to secure the pole shoes to the magnet, to a ring 2 resting on a flange 1a of the casing 1. Terminal blocks 7 having metal inserts 9 bored for the reception of plugs are located in slots 8 in the casing and the coil ends are soldered to the closed ends of the inserts. A disc of insulating material 3 seated on a recess in the ring 2 has slots through which the pole pieces 12a may project and a hole covered with a woven material which serves in conjunction with a mesh covered eyeletted aperture 17 to equalize the air pressures on each side of the diaphragm 4.
