Abstract

736,838. Making conveyer worms. WURAG EISENUND STAHLWERKE AKT.-GES. Sept. 1, 1953 [Sept. 20, 1952], No. 24176/53. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). Rolling; bending.-Helical strip 15, Fig. 3, for conveyer worms is cold-rolled from a strip of tapered cross-section in a pass which is wedge shaped in the opposite direction to the taper so that the greatest thickness is on the inside radius of the helix. The strip 14, Fig. 1, is fed through a guide 12 of the same crosssection to a wedge-shaped pass 11 between a cylindrical roll 5 and a conical roll 6. A guide 13 directs the strip into the region of recesses 9, 10 in the roll which permit the strip to form into a helix. The final strip which has a convex section 18 is welded to a shaft 16.
