Abstract

736,706. Fireguards. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 31, 1953 [Dec. 31, 1952], No. 33038/52. Class 126. A guard-for an electric fire of the type comprising one or more elongated heating elements in front of a reflector is formed by a number of fins each having a slot for receiving the heating elements and supported in diverging planes. Each fin, Figs. 3 and 4, comprises a flat U- shaped portion surrounded by a curved peripheral flange 12. The legs of the flat portion are shaped to conform with the surface of the reflector. The fins 9 are held in position by rigid strips 13 which pass freely through slots 15 formed in the fins and become wedged when rotated. The supporting strips 13 are secured to the outermost fins 9 which also carry brackets 19 which enclose the terminal connections of the heating elements when the guard is in position. The fins are arranged in planes diverging to either side of the medial plane of the reflector 1, which is convex in the plane containing the heating elements 3, and each fin 9 is perpendicular to the convex surface of the reflector. The flanges 12 of the groups of fins 9 on either side of the centre of the fire face in opposite directions, and the fins 9 and strips 13 may be provided with reflecting surfaces. Specification 512,319 is referred to.
