Abstract
736,347. Drip-preventing mouths and spouts. GOTH, I. Oct. 29, 1951, No. 15202/54. Divided out of 729,911. Classes 66 and 125 (1). [Also in Group XVIII] Non-drip mouths and spouts for containers have one or more capillary channels, recesses, cavities or the like l<SP>1</SP> arranged across the direction of flow of the liquid and adjoining a pouring surface e<SP>4</SP> projecting outwardly and downwardly, which merges into a second surface g<SP>4</SP> projecting upwardly in all pouring positions of the container, the merging area b<SP>4</SP> between the first and second surfaces being within the influence of the capillary channels, &c., so that drops separate at the merging area, the surface g' is not substantially wetted and liquid remaining 'on the surface e<SP>4</SP> is retained by the capillary channels. Further capillary channels k<SP>1</SP> may be provided in the direction of flow to withdraw liquid from the transverse channeIs l<SP>1</SP> back into the container. The transverse capillary recess may be situated on the outside surface of the mouth, being formed between the outside of the mouth and the projecting surface e<SP>4</SP>. The longitudinal channels may cut across the transverse recess. Fig. 6 shows a pouring lip or part of a spout the recess being formed between the surface m<SP>1</SP>, l<SP>1</SP> and the pouring surface e<SP>5</SP> merging at b<SP>5</SP> into the upwardly projecting second surface g<SP>5</SP>.
