736,291. Electronic switching circuits; radio receiving circuits. BRITISH COMMUNICATION CORPORATION, Ltd., and HEFTMAN, T. S. Sept. 13, 1951 [Sept. 13, 1950], No. 22553/50. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (6). Remote control apparatus for selecting tuned circuits in radio apparatus comprises a plurality of rectifiers connected in series with the circuits and a manually-operated switch means to bias the rectifiers to the conducting or the non- conducting state. Fig. 1 shows an intervalve coupling in a radio receiver, in which tuned circuits 13 and 14 are connected through rectifiers 19 and 30 respectively to the circuit connecting the output of valve 10 to the input of valve 36. Remote control switches 22 and 33 associated with bias supplies 26 and 27 enable either of the rectifiers to be made conducting and the other non-conducting, so that either of the tuned circuits may be selected to be operative in the intervalve coupling circuit. Capacitors 20 and 31 are provided to neutralize the capacitances of rectifiers 19 and 30, thereby reducing the coupling when the rectifier is non-conducting. A modification is described in which only one bias source is used in conjunction with a reversing switch. The rectifiers may consist of germanium diodes for low voltages, or thermionic diodes for higher voltages.
