Abstract
736,152. Refrigerators; tubular heat exchange elements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Sept. 22, 1952 [Sept. 22, 1951], No. 23707/52. Classes 29 and 64 (3). A refrigerator is provided with heat transfer apparatus 3, e.g. a condenser, comprising a continuous serpentine conduit formed to provide a plurality of parallel passes 9 in the same general plane, spaced parallel wires 10 being secured to and extending transversely of the passes, parallel to the plane, the ratio of the diameter of the wires and the spacing between adjacent wires being in the range from 0.3 to 0.5 and preferably from 0.35 to 0.45, and the heat transfer apparatus 3 being mounted on a surface 2 of the-refrigerator 1 (see Fig. 1) with the plane of the passes inclined at an angle (preferably 6 degrees) to that surface. Wires 10 may be arranged on both sides of the conduit (Fig. 3). Specification 661,909 is referred to.
