Abstract

The invention comprises amoebicidal compounds of the general formula <FORM:0735890/IV (b)/1> and their salts, where A is a divalent aliphatic chain containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms. They may be prepared by condensing 2-amino-4-chloro - 5 - (41 - chlorophenyl) - 6 - ethyl pyrimidine or its N-acetylamino derivative with a diamine of the formula NH2-A-NH2, preferably by refluxing 2 mol. proportions of pyrimidine reactant with 1 mol. proportion of the diamine in a solvent such as phenol. Specified amines are ethylene diamine, 1 : 4-diamino-butane and hexamethylene diamine, leading to the production of N,N1-1 : 2 - di-(21-amino - 51 - p - chlorophenyl - 61 - ethyl - 41-pyrimidyl) amino-ethane, -butane, and -hexane, respectively.
