735,590. Non-return valves. WESTON, S. B. May 25, 1954 [Feb. 26, 1953], No. 5382/53. Class 135. A non-return valve comprises a conical part a slit axially at c in one or more diametrical planes and integral with a sleeve b of rubber, synthetic rubber, polyvinyl chloride &c. The bore of the sleeve is stepped at e to receive a pipe d, and an external groove f is engaged by the wall of an aperture in a vessel g or by an inextensible band to constrict the sleeve around the pipe. The cone may face in the opposite direction from that shown. In a modification, the sleeve, of lesser wall thickness and without the groove,f and step e, is insertable in a bore and is engaged at one end by a pipe which fits the bore.
